Wow, what a fun experience we had during the “Hoof It!” adventure at the 2013 Mercer County Fair! This “scavenger hunt” for clues on agriculture and healthy living topics was a big hit with kids and adults alike.
Hoof It! was a joint collaboration with the Mercer County Farm Bureau, Grand Lake/Wabash Watershed Alliance, Mercer Health and OSU Extension, Mercer County 4-H.
The group provided 10 stations that were throughout the fairgrounds for participants to test their knowledge on agriculture and healthy lifestyles. These stations were available during the week and a special edition of the program was held on Wednesday for Kids Day. To take part in the event, participants received a passport, went to each of the stations and answered a question. In route they saw all aspects of the fair and were entered to win prizes at the end of their journey, not to mentioned they walked one mile during the event.
During special edition day, we had more than 200 participants and many more the entire week of fair. What a great success!
