Farm Bureau members keep elected officials busy during break

Some of the recent meetings:

  • Town hall meeting with Congressman Bill Johnson in Cambridge;
  • Meeting and discussion with staff for Congressmen Bob Latta, Jim Jordan and Bob Gibbs as well as the Ohio Department of Agriculture and state representatives Terry Boose, Dave Hall and Rex Damschroder;
  • Town hall meeting with Congressman Bob Gibbs;
  • Coffee and conversation with Congressman Jim Jordan in Norwalk;
  • Town hall meeting in Wayne County with Congressman Jim Renacci;
  • Farm tours in Van Wert and Mercer counties with Congressman Bob Latta;
  • Tour of Ohio State Agricultural Technical Institute with Washington, D.C. staff for Congressmen Bill Johnson, Jim Jordan, Steve Chabot and Pat Tiberi ; and
  • Huron County Fair visit with Sen. Rob Portman.

Farmers’ need for migrant laborers, the lack of quality and reliability of a domestic workforce, a system to legally employ migrant laborers with less red tape, the need for a farm bill and water quality are the main items Farm Bureau members discussed with their representatives at these meetings over the last few weeks.
