COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – The inaugural Ohio Farm and Food Leadership Forum is aimed at empowering Ohioans to improve their communities. The event will include members of farm and food organizations, civic groups, business, government and other sectors to focus on four themes: general leadership skills, developing boards of directors/trustees, technology and current policy issues. The forum will take place Dec. 4 at the Hyatt Regency Columbus.
More than 20 organizations are cooperating on the meeting and will be encouraging their members to attend, but the session is open to any interested individuals. Registrations will be taken online at http://bit.ly/Hf1uRv. Cost for individuals is $75. Deadline to register is Nov. 27.
Sessions include identifying leaders, generational leadership differences, structuring efficient boards of directors, constructive communication, decision making, succession planning and running effective meetings.
Mark Sanborn will be the keynote speaker. He is a former Ohio and National FFA president who is now a nationally recognized speaker on leadership skill training and helping individuals and organizations excel. In addition, he is a past president of the National Speakers Association and one of the youngest inductees into its Hall of Fame.
Other presenters include Dr. Jeff King of the OSU Leadership Center, Margee Wolff of the American Farm Bureau Federation and other noted leadership experts.
The organizations hosting the Ohio Food and Farm Leadership Forum are Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, American Dairy Association and Dairy Council Mid East, Nationwide Insurance, Ohio Agribusiness Association, Ohio Cattlemen’s Association, Ohio Corn Marketing Program, Ohio Pork Council, Ohio Poultry Association, Ohio Small Grains Marketing Program, Ohio Soybean Association and Ohio Soybean Council, Ohio Wine Producers Association and United Producers, Inc.
The event is being held in conjunction with the opening day of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation’s 95th annual meeting.
