“Ohio Farm Bureau is very happy to welcome and congratulate Dr. Michael V. Drake on being named the new president of The Ohio State University.
“Ohio Farm Bureau members and I look forward to working with Dr. Drake on enhancing Ohio State’s land grant mission of providing accessible, affordable education, generating world-class research and delivering skills and knowledge directly into stakeholder communities. Ohio agriculture, indeed all of Ohio, depends on Ohio State to lead the way in these endeavors.
“As president, Dr. Drake will be responsible for Ohio State’s College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences along with its Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center and OSU Extension outreach programs. These institutions are critically important to keeping agriculture Ohio’s top industry.
“Ohio State’s College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences is producing well-rounded graduates who are quickly employed. It’s creating basic knowledge that the private sector turns into products, services and jobs. And through OSU Extension, it has a presence in every county, contributing to the advancement of food and farming, helping households and improving communities, protecting the environment and developing leaders among our youth. Ohio State’s agricultural college is a template for fulfilling the mission of a great public university.
“We look forward to helping Dr. Drake lead this pursuit of excellence, and Ohio Farm Bureau will be proud to play a supportive role.”
