Marion County Receives National Recognition

Marion County Farm Bureau leaders represented the county and state of Ohio at the American Farm Bureau Federation Annual meeting held recenty in San Antonio, Texas.  Dr. Emily Buck represented the state as the Excellence in Ag winner and was selected as one of the top 3 in the nation!   Congratulations to Emily for representing the state so well at the nation convention.

Congrats  also go to Lisa Shumaker who represented the county for the Harvest Hustle 4 mile run/walk, one of just 24 programs recognized by AFBF.  Lisa reports that 75 runners and walkers participated in the second annual Harvest Hustle 4-mile event on September 14, 2013.  Several family members were there to cheer them on.  The goal was to promote agriculture, connect farmers and consumers, and raise money for charity.

Proceeds from the event funded another program, Farm to Family.  The Farm to Family program works with local charities and food pantries to teach families how to prepare low cost, yet nutritious meals.  Thanks to our member volunteers and sponsors, these events were all a huge success.
