New Agriculture Management Program to be Presented Oct. 8

New Agriculture Management Program to be presented at the Ag/Local Food Sector with RCDG meeting Wednesday Oct. 8, from 10 am to 11:30 am at the Longview Center, 1495 W. Longview Ave., Mansfield.

This meeting will feature a short presentation from Jim Hull, Dean of Health Sciences with North Central State College. NCSC will be offering a new Agriculture Management Certificate Program beginning in January 2015. This 30 credit hour program was recently approved by the Higher Learning Commission and meets federal guidelines for students to be eligible for federal aid. The curriculum consists of business, engineering and agriculture classes and will be under the Health Sciences department. The curriculum was developed with the input of small niche farmers and is geared toward smaller farming operations.

Following the presentation, we will have a short question and answer session with Mr. Hull, and will conclude with continued discussion and updates from the Ag/Local Foods Sector participants.

This meeting is free, open to the public and does not require registration.  Anyone interested in local foods, agriculture and/or improving market opportunities for area agricultural producers and improving local food access opportunities for area consumers is strongly encouraged to attend.
