Tell us about the place where you live. My office and home are located in Circleville, a rural community about 20 miles south of Columbus. Circleville is probably best known as the home of The Pumpkin Show—“The Greatest Free Show On Earth”—that runs four days during the third week of October in the downtown district.
How important is community involvement to your agency? Community involvement is very important. We support local high school and recreation league sports, 4-H and FFA at fair sales as well as other community events throughout the year. Being a rural community we are also involved with our local Pickaway County Farm Bureau. We’ve co-sponsored exhibits, work with the membership campaigns and make presentations at Farm Bureau events.
How do you continually provide the On Your Side experience to customers? We focus on always being available when people need us and following through in response to our members’ needs. They know when they call our office, they can talk to a staff person who they’re familiar with and that we are going to do everything we can to provide an “On Your Side” experience.
What does “customer focused” mean to you? It means putting the customer’s needs first in our day-to-day activities and understanding that doing what is best for the customer is what is going to make us successful.
Why do you work for Nationwide? Nationwide provides me with the opportunity to impact someone’s life in a positive manner. When a member has a terrible loss, we are able to step in and help make things better.
Other than insurance, why would you encourage someone to be a Farm Bureau member? Being a rural community, agriculture is an important part of our economy and the community’s way of life. I think it makes good sense and helps all of us to have a little better understanding of what is happening in our community.
