Working to preserve Ohio’s ag sales tax exemption


During his testimony before the Senate Ways and Means Committee, Kern said the agricultural sales tax exemption is a “critical component to creating a business environment in Ohio” and not meant to be levied on a product’s input or production components. He pointed out that since agriculture is a highly capital intensive industry with significantly low profit margins, changing the tax exemption could drive some farms out of business.
