Chef Rob Kicks-off Farm to Plate June 27

Brought to the community by the Hazelgrove Farm Bureau Community Council, Richland Community Development Group, Shelby Foundation, Richland County Creating Healthy Communities, Shelby FFA and Richland County Farm Bureau, the 2015 event series at the Shelby Farmers’ Market will feature local chefs preparing foods while sharing cooking tips and menu ideas to help maximize the use of seasonal, local foods. The program is provided at no cost to attendees.

June 27 will kick off this series featuring Rob Fighter, Corporate Chef for R.S. Hanline & Co. in Shelby, Rob also runs a Personal Chef and Event Services company called Mid Ohio Culinary Finesse. With more than 30 years of experience both here in Ohio and around the country, Rob is a former Executive Chef who has cooked in establishments ranging from small private restaurants to upscale caterers, city clubs and country clubs and mega hotels and resorts. 

A host of partners, supporters and volunteers have joined together to provide this exciting program to link the growers of our local foods with local chefs and with us, the consumer. Cooking demonstrations, featuring items that can be found at the Farmer’s Market or through local sources, will occur on at least five occasions this summer. Taste testing, recipes and market money will be available. There will be healthy activities for the kids too. This is a great opportunity to learn about and support our local food economy, and to be newly inspired to eat healthy and to eat fresh.
