Columbiana County Farm Bureau Announces 2015 Scholarship Winners

COLUMBIANA SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

2015-2016

 

Sara Fraser is the daughter of Anne Marie Fraser of Beloit.  Sara graduated from West Branch High School and plans to attend The University of Mount Union to major in Nursing.  Once she graduates with a BSN she plans to continue her goal of becoming a Nurse Practitioner Hospitalist.

Sara’s current honors and activities include being a member of the National Honors Society, the Secretary of the FFA and Vice-President of the local chapter of 4-H. She has been recognized for numerous awards within the FFA and 4-H.  Some of which include, the Outstanding Sophomore award, the Dairy Achievement Silver Award from the Ohio 4-H Dairy Program and she was the 2014-2015 Columbiana Diary Princess.

 

Vincent Zehentbauer is the son of Richard & Jennifer Zehentbauer of Hanoverton.  Vincent graduated from United Local and will attend The University of Akron where he plans to major in Mechanical Engineering. 

Vincent’s honors and activities during high school include National Honors Society, Distinguished Honor Roll, 4-H President, United Mentoring Program, Ruriteens, and was the Senior Class President.  He participated in Track & Field, and was the Cross Country co-captain.  Vincent is also involved with his church youth group.

 

Hannah Jarvis is the daughter of Doug and Patti Jarvis of Homeworth.  Hannah graduated as class Valedictorian from West Branch High School.  She will be attending The Ohio State University in the fall where she plans on majoring in Animal Science and Agricultural Communications.

Hannah’s honors and activities during high school include President of the Columbiana County Junior Fair Board, 4-H Royal Court, Ohio 4-H Ambassador, County 4-H Ambassador, 4-H Camp Counselor, 2014 Top 5 Finalist for the Ohio Junior Fair Board, and the 2014 CMT Cattlemen’s Ambassador.  She shows steers and dairy beef.  Hannah was also on the Tennis Team, Track Team, Academic Challenge Team, Student Council, National Honor’s Society, Ruriteens, SADD, Leo Club, FCA, and Foreign Language Club.

 

Courtney Hephner is the daughter of Tim and Debbie Hephner of Leetonia.  Courtney recently graduated from Crestview High School and plans to attend Kent State University in the fall and is majoring in Speech Language Pathology.   

Courtney’s current honors and activities include being a member of the National Honor Society, Chemistry Club, Math Club, Spanish Club, Student Council, Drama Club, Flag Line, and the Fellowship of Crestview Christians.  She has previously served as a member of the superintendent’s advisory committee, and was the student liaison to the school board.  She is involved in a number of community organizations that include being a member of the Columbiana County 4-H Ambassadors, Country Hands 4-H Club, and the Columbiana County Junior Leaders.  Courtney was also on the 4-H Royal Court in 2013 and 2014, and the Columbiana 4-H Queen in 2014.  She has also previously served as a Columbiana County 4-H camp counselor.
