Join Carroll, Harrison, Jefferson and Tuscarawas County Farm Bureaus for our second annual Straight From the Heart, an informative day of fun, learning and fellowship in the heart of Amish Country. Experts will share information on a variety of topics that matter most to women.
The morning kickoff speaker is Andrea Dobkin. Andrea is Cardiovascular Services Manager at Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, West Virginia. She is responsible for both the Heart Attack and Stroke programs. In its region, Wheeling Hospital is the only Accredited Heart Attack Receiving Center and also holds the designation of an Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI. Over the past nine years, the Cardiac Cath Lab, which Andrea manages, has received 14 national recognitions for its quick and effective treatment of chest pain and heart attack. The part of Andrea’s job she loves the most is community education and outreach. As a nurse, a wife, a mother and a grandmother, she understands the importance of calling 9-1-1 for chest pain or stroke symptoms. She wants everyone to realize that early treatment saves hearts and brains.
The lunch keynote speaker is Justice Judith L. French, Supreme Court of Ohio. As the 155th member of the Ohio Supreme Court, Justice Judi French was elected to her first full six-year term in 2014. Justice French joined the Supreme Court in 2013 after her appointment by Gov. John Kasich to fill a vacancy. She has served as an appellate judge, counselor to the governor, an assistant attorney general, and a state government lawyer. Her experience also includes working as a corporate attorney and in private practice.
The daughter of a schoolteacher, Justice French appreciates her Ohio roots and education, and she is committed to being a part of civic education in Ohio. As a justice, she speaks frequently to students from around Ohio, particularly those studying the Ohio judicial system.
She received three degrees from Ohio State University, a bachelor’s in political science, a master’s in history and her law degree. Having learned from so many talented teachers and professors, Justice French is dedicated to serving as a resource to them and their students.
