COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) –The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) congratulates its members for their work to pass State Issues 1 and 2 and defeat State Issue 3. The organization also thanks the voters of Ohio for their thoughtful decisions.
Ohio Farm Bureau’s Yes Yes No campaign was successful because of the Farm Bureau members from throughout Ohio who carried out the grassroots effort. Their placing of yard signs, social media postings and conversations with voters in their communities played a significant role in an election that resulted in policies favorable to all Ohioans and that creates good government.
Issue 1 makes the process of establishing legislative districts more inclusive. Issue 2 limits the ability to create monopolies in the state constitution. Issue 3 would have created a marijuana monopoly in the constitution.
Going forward, Ohio Farm Bureau members will engage in the redistricting process by encouraging public input, transparency and bipartisanship. In the wake of the Issue 3 defeat, the organization recognizes that the debate over legalized marijuana in Ohio is far from decided. Farm Bureau members will work through the organization’s grassroots and policy development process to assess the challenges and opportunities that will now develop. Our goal will be to protect the interests of Ohio’s families, farms, businesses and communities.
