Bates elected to Ohio Farm Bureau board

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) — Wyatt Bates of Wheelersburg has been elected District 21 trustee for the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF). Bates will represent the interests of Farm Bureau members from Jackson, Pike, Scioto and Vinton counties. He fills the seat vacated by Tim Williams of Piketon who retired from the board.

Bates and his wife, Patricia, are beekeepers and enjoy their 20 acres. He also is a real estate agent. Bates is a 12-year member of the Scioto County Farm Bureau, having served as its president, treasurer and policy development chairman, as well as being involved in membership and many other activities.

Bates received an associate’s degree from Shawnee State University. He serves as president of the Greater Portsmouth Board of Realtors and is a member of the Knights of Columbus in St. Peter Parish. He has three grown children.

His election took place during the 97th annual meeting of Ohio Farm Bureau held Dec. 2-4 in Columbus.

Ohio Farm Bureau is the state’s largest and most inclusive farm and food organization. Its mission is to forge a partnership between farmers and consumers.
