COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) — Michael Boyert of Seville was elected to a three-year term as Northeast regional trustee for Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) during the organization’s 97th annual meeting Dec. 2-4 in Columbus.
Boyert will represent members in 20 northeast Ohio counties and will help govern the state’s largest and most inclusive farm organization. He began his Farm Bureau career 35 years ago and has served in every board position for Medina County Farm Bureau. He also has served on Ohio Farm Bureau’s Code of Regulations Committee and Policy Development Committee.
He and his wife Patti operate Boyert’s Greenhouse and Farm, a greenhouse and nursery, with their children Jacob and Rebecca. They offer a variety of retail plants including annuals, perennials, heirloom varieties, trees and shrubs and homemade wreaths. The farm also produces 275 acres of crops and 50 head of cattle. The Boyerts conduct numerous farm tours for schools and the public, hosting up to 10,000 visitors per year. They are parents of six children.
Boyert serves on the Farm Credit Mid-America Advisory Committee and previously served on the Medina County OSU Extension Advisory Committee and Soil and Water Conservation District Advisory Committee. He and Patti were Ohio Farm Bureau’s Outstanding Young Farm Couple and honored as Friends of Medina County 4-H. He is a member of AmericanHort. The Boyerts attend St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
He graduated from Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in animal science.
During the meeting, Farm Bureau delegates established policy on a variety of agricultural, environmental, economic and social issues.Ohio Farm Bureau’s mission is to forge a partnership between farmers and consumers.
