Smith elected to Ohio Farm Bureau board

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) — Wade Smith of Whitehouse was elected Northwest regional trustee for the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) during the organization’s 97th annual meeting. Smith will represent the interests of members in 24 northwest Ohio counties.

Smith has a hydroponic tomato and daylilly operation in Whitehouse. A 25-year member of the Lucas County Farm Bureau, he is on the state policy development committee and has been county vice president. He also is a member of the Maumee Valley Growers Association.

A graduate of Bowling Green State University, Smith has a bachelor’s degree in production operations/purchasing materials management and a master’s degree in industrial technology. He and his wife, Holly, have three children.

During OFBF’s Dec. 2-4 meeting in Columbus, delegates established policy on a variety of agricultural, environmental, economic and social issues. The organization’s mission is to forge a partnership between farmers and consumers.
