Advocate, social media lover and farmer’s daughter

Lyndsey Murphy from Champaign County and now in Washington, D.C. took a turn as featured editor of the Growing Our Generation e-newsletter where twice a month young farmers and agricultural professionals in Ohio share their stories, insight and tips.

Hey there fellow farm and food enthusiasts! My name is Lyndsey Murphy and I’m from the tiny town of Mechanicsburg in Champaign County. I grew up on my family’s farm there where we grow corn, soybeans and hay along with raising miniature Herefords, chickens and pigs.

The lessons and responsibility I learned growing up on the farm paved the path for me to study agriculture in college and then begin my work in agriculture as a communications specialist. I now have traveled a little further from the farm and have taken up residence in Washington, D.C. for a bit, working for the American Farm Bureau Federation. At American Farm Bureau I manage all of our social media outlets, teach workshops on how to weave productive social media into agriculture and reach out to consumers and producers alike, trying to share our messages.
