#TakeOverTuesday: OFBF Public Policy Department

Every Tuesday an Ohio Farm Bureau member takes over the Ohio Farm Bureau Instagram for the day to share a day in their life. Check in through out the day or follow us on Instagram, @OhioFarmBureau,  to meet new Ohio farmers and ag professionals every #TakeOverTuesday.

Dale Arnold, OFBF Director of Energy, Utility and Local Government Policy, is representing farmers and agribusiness at the 2016 Ohio Conference on Freight in Cleveland, Ohio. Industry representatives are predicting dramatic growth in freight volumes. Ohio’s network of highways, rail links, air hubs and ports will struggle to meet new demand. From transporting cash grains to shipping value added products, agriculture is a key stakeholder in these issues. Dale is sharing OFBF policies and advocating our leadership position in transportation requirements and economic development. #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Public Policy staff of Ohio Farm Bureau. Political engagement is a key ingredient to effective advocacy. Every election cycle, Ohio Farm Bureau's AGGPAC evaluates candidates based on their willingness to understand and act on policies important to agriculture and our communities. Those who live up to those principles earn the "Friend of Agriculture" or "Friend of Farm Bureau" designation so Ohioans know where they stand. Today we are proud to be joined by AFBF President Zippy Duvall to present the Friend of Farm Bureau award to US Senator Rob Portman at this event in the Senator's honor. #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Public Policy staff of Ohio Farm Bureau. Farm Bureau public policy staff had a chance to catch up with AFBF President Zippy Duvall who is touring Ohio today. Duvall got to see the diversity of Ohio agriculture by visiting with row crop farmers, a dairy, a fruit and vegetable farm and even an Agritourism operation. Here, OFBF staff gave Duvall perspective on key public policy initiatives important to protecting and enhancing that broad diversity. #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Public Policy staff of Ohio Farm Bureau. A closing message from OFBF Vice President for Public Policy, Yvonne Lesicko. As you can see, there is nothing typical about a typical day in the public policy department. I am proud of the breadth of advocacy, outreach and engagement our team takes on in any given day. Today our staff met with partners at meetings stretching from Cleveland to Bucyrus to Columbus. A jam-packed day that didn’t even involve visits to Capitol Hill or the Statehouse. Of course we’ll be there too, when it’s needed to get the job done for Ohio agriculture. #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Public Policy staff of Ohio Farm Bureau.
