Miami County Farm Bureau Donates to Local Fire Departments

At the 2017 Farmers and 4-H Breakfast held April 1, a presentation was made to all the local fire departments of two helmets as well as two full body safety harnesses to assist in grain engulfment emergency rescues. These were donated on behalf of the Miami County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee.

There are 13 fire departments in the county and 10 were able to attend the presentation. Those fire departments included Troy, Pleasant Hill-Newton, Casstown, Tipp City, Covington, Fletcher, Laura, Piqua, West Milton, and Ludlow. The equipment will be delivered to Elizabeth, Bethel, and Bradford Fire Departments.

Throughout the years, the Miami County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee has made many donations to benefit the county as a whole and this certainly fits that goal. Women Committee members at the breakfast were Wilma Barbee, Lauretta Wilhelm, Norma Gillfillan, Evelyn Sheafer, and Opal Holfinger and they presented the gift to the departments.
