Meet Libby Wixtead
Besides Farm Bureau, how are you active in the community? Church/civic groups/school etc…? I am on the Extension Advisory Board, an Ohio Sports plus basketball volunteer and a 4-H/FFA volunteer.
How did you become involved in agriculture?
I grew up on our family grain farm in Prospect and was heavily involved with 4-H and FFA showing pigs, lambs, and poultry which was my specialty.
How long has your family been farming?
My family farm, Suits Us Farm, was established 175 years ago in 1842.
Where do you work and what do you do?
I work for AgCredit in Marion as a loan officer. I have worked at AgCredit for three years.
From where do you get the motivation to do what you are doing?
I come to work every day because I really enjoy working with my customers and assisting them with their financial needs. It’s so nice to be able to work in the town where you grew up and really know your customers.
Why are you a Farm Bureau member? What do you see as the biggest benefit?
I’m a Farm Bureau member because this organization gives me a voice in agriculture, and I can share my personal story at my local, state and national level. One of the biggest benefits for me currently, is interacting with other Young Ag Professionals (YAP) throughout the state and networking with them.
Life Outside of Farm Bureau
What are your hobbies besides farming?
I love to coach, play, and watch basketball, and my husband is trying to help me become a golfer. I also love to cook, bake and try new recipes.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I would love to visit Paris and London with my best friend since I was unable to visit these cities when I was previously in Europe. I love going to see historical and famous spots. Also, if I could travel to Paris, I would love to eat some good food, take a cooking class, and maybe do some window shopping.
You are happiest when?
I am my happiest when I am spending time with my family or friends just hanging out.
Thank you Libby for sharing. We are happy to have you on the board.
