Agriculture Update from OSU Extension

Do you have friends that hunt and are looking for landowners to contact?  Send them to OSU Extension – as the 2016 Mahoning County Plat Books are now available at the OSU Extension Office in Canfield.  This is a fundraiser for the Mahoning County 4-H program.  It makes a great gift for the avid hunter, hiker or bird watcher of the family!  Updated full-color Index Maps show each township’s geographic location in detail.  A complete index of owners is listed alphabetically by last name in the back of the book.  Each plat book is $25 plus tax ($26.69).  To buy a copy, call the office at 330.533.5538 or visit the office in Canfield.

Monthly Pesticide License Testings are held on the first Monday of the month at the OSU Extension Office in Canfield.  New applicators can take the test OR farmers with a current license can add categories to their current license.  Register at: http//go.osu.edu/pestexam

Adult Cereal Leaf Beetles have been spotted in Ohio.  Scout your crop for these shiny, metallic blue & orange beetles.

An FSMS Training for growers that are required to complete food safety training (i.e. – GAPS) will be held on May 31st in Wooster.

Fertilizer Certification needs to be complete by Sept. 30, 2017.  If you still need a 2-hour or 3-hour class, please call OSU Extension to be placed on a list.  Multiple field days will be held this summer to cover the requirements needed for certification – 330.533.5538.
