Crawford County Farm Bureau is excited to once again host the Farm Bureau Fun and Education Center in the Whetstone Building at the Crawford County Fairgrounds!

The Farm Bureau Fun and Education Center will be open July 16 through July 22, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The building will feature many agricultural education activities such as Buckeye Bessie, daily crafts, Minute to Win it games and Farmer for A Day. Guests can play a life-sized board game called “FARM.” The game has farming scenarios where players will receive helping hands, gain or lose tokens, based on what happens on a farm.

The building will also have a combine simulator. Visitors can climb into a combine and experience what it’s like to be a grain farmer during harvest, or choose to experience our car driving simulator. The driving simulator lets fair-goers experience just how dangerous it is to drive while impaired.

Live animals will be in the building as well! There will be a bred sow, courtesy of Hord’s Livestock, that will give birth sometime during the week. Farm Bureau will also be incubating chickens that will hatch during the week!

Around the fair, visitors can also participate in our scavenger hunt. Stop by the Whetstone Building to get your questions sheet and look for our signs as you tour the 2017 Crawford County Fair! Afterward, look for one of our county fair ambassadors to claim your scavenger hunt prize!

Farm Bureau will also be sharing information about becoming a member and member benefits. We will also be providing education about agriculture and education for farmers along with guest presentations. Farm Bureau finds it important to work on issues that impact farmers; therefore, there will be opportunities at the fair for farmers to provide input on Farm Bureau policies. Farm Bureau’s display aims to reach fair guests with a positive message about agriculture in our community, state and nation. We aim to provide a memorable experience for fair-goers.

Labor has always been an issue, mainly because we are a seasonal operation. So that's a challenge finding somebody who only wants to work three months out of a year, sometimes up to six months.

Farm Labor Resources
I appreciate the benefit of having a strong voice in my corner. The extras that are included in membership are wonderful, but I'm a member because of the positive impact to my local and state agricultural communities.

Strong communities
I see the value and need to be engaged in the community I live in, to be a part of the decision-making process and to volunteer with organizations that help make our community better.

Leadership development
Farm Bureau involvement has taught me how to grow my professional and leadership experience outside of the workforce and how to do that in a community-centric way.

With not growing up on a farm, I’d say I was a late bloomer to agriculture. I feel so fortunate that I found the agriculture industry. There are so many opportunities for growth.

Growing our Generation
Knowing that horticulture is under the agriculture umbrella and having Farm Bureau supporting horticulture like it does the rest of ag is very important.

If it wasn't for Farm Bureau, I personally, along with many others, would not have had the opportunity to meet with our representatives face to face in Washington.

So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
