Every Tuesday an Ohio Farm Bureau member takes over the Ohio Farm Bureau Instagram for the day to share a day in their life. Check in throughout the day or follow us on Instagram, @OhioFarmBureau, to meet new Ohio farmers and ag professionals every #TakeOverTuesday.

Hi! My name is Amanda Kramer from Huron County with your #TakeOverTuesday. I like to keep myself rather busy, alongside my husband, DJ, and our partners Randy and Susie, we own and operate R & D Farms in Greenwich, Ohio. I also work as a Crop Specialist with Mid-Wood Incorporated Agronomy Services, and help my in-laws with the day-to-day operation of their grain farm and Kramer’s Farm Market in Norwalk, Ohio. — #TakeOverTuesday this week is Amanda Kramer with R & D Farms in Huron County. One of my favorite parts of my job is the view. One late night early this summer, I was out scouting fields to be sprayed the next day. I couldn’t help but be taken back by the absolute beauty of this scene. We operate in a heavy Mennonite and Amish community, this is my view that night looking at an Amish Schoolhouse. — #TakeOverTuesday this week is Amanda Kramer with R & D Farms in Huron County. At the end of the day it’s all about taking time to help our farmers be the best farmers that they can be through the services that we provide. I help my growers with their cropping plans for the year selling them the seed, fertilizer, and chemistry they need to raise healthy and profitable crops. — #TakeOverTuesday this week is Amanda Kramer with R & D Farms in Huron County. Sadly, when my husband and I got married I moved away from my family farm where I raised cattle. Cattle are my passion and I love working with them. The goal is in the near future I will be able to start back up my cattle operation, where I plan to raise Holstein bull calves from bottle to 600 pounds. — #TakeOverTuesday this week is Amanda Kramer with R & D Farms in Huron County. As the sun sets and a storm rolls in on the farm, it’s a great feeling knowing that all of the crops are in the ground and growing well. — #TakeOverTuesday this week is Amanda Kramer with R & D Farms in Huron County. The work never stops with the farm market. From planting multiple plantings of sweet corn, and almost any vegetable that you can imagine; pumpkins, squash, and Indian corn in the fall, and Christmas trees and fresh holiday decor in December. We like to keep busy always offering our customers new things to try throughout the year. — #TakeOverTuesday this week is Amanda Kramer with R & D Farms in Huron County. When that last load of grain is ready to leave the field, there’s no better feeling in the world. I thank all the hard working farmers out there that use multiple different farming practices to grow all of the healthy food that we need. Labor has always been an issue, mainly because we are a seasonal operation. So that's a challenge finding somebody who only wants to work three months out of a year, sometimes up to six months.

I appreciate the benefit of having a strong voice in my corner. The extras that are included in membership are wonderful, but I'm a member because of the positive impact to my local and state agricultural communities.

Leadership development
Farm Bureau involvement has taught me how to grow my professional and leadership experience outside of the workforce and how to do that in a community-centric way.

With not growing up on a farm, I’d say I was a late bloomer to agriculture. I feel so fortunate that I found the agriculture industry. There are so many opportunities for growth.

Growing our Generation
Knowing that horticulture is under the agriculture umbrella and having Farm Bureau supporting horticulture like it does the rest of ag is very important.

If it wasn't for Farm Bureau, I personally, along with many others, would not have had the opportunity to meet with our representatives face to face in Washington.

So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
