Kari Burkey is organization director for Morgan, Muskingum, Perry and Washington counties. In this role, she is a liaison between the county Farm Bureaus and Ohio Farm Bureau. She assists county groups as they develop and implement programs to strengthen their organizations, serve members and affect positive change in their communities.
Burkey received a bachelor’s degree from Elon University.
What is something you can point to that has been accomplished thanks to the joint efforts of farmers and community members in your area?
In Muskingum County, we are bringing awareness to hunger issues in our community by hosting a Dinner on the Farm event. At this event we work to connect farmers, consumers, and local food initiative organizations together and raise money for the Muskingum County Hunger Network.

Tell us about one big project one of your counties has planned or has recently conducted.
Morgan County Farm Bureau has a policy on recycling education and litter prevention so members are going into all of the elementary schools and talking to the students about why we need to take care of our environment, what all can be recycled, how to go about that and giving students a recycled Frisbee.
