Every Tuesday an Ohio Farm Bureau member takes over the Ohio Farm Bureau Instagram for the day to share a day in their life. Check in throughout the day or follow us on Instagram, @OhioFarmBureau, to meet new Ohio farmers and ag professionals every #TakeOverTuesday.

Hello! I am Jennifer Starcher with Aullwood Audubon Center for your #TakeOverTuesday! We were awarded $2,600 to support our ongoing Maple Syrup and Candle Dipping education programs that serve more than 6,000 students and their families every year through the OFBF Foundation grants. We are excited to show you what else we do on our farm today! . . #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Jennifer Starcher of Aullwood Farms in Montgomery County. This is our bank barn! We had a barn fire in the 1980’s and this 1880’s barn was carefully taken apart, labeled, and put back together here on our farm. . . #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Jennifer Starcher of Aullwood Farms in Montgomery County. Here is some produce we harvested from our Children’s Edible Garden. We like to grow a wide variety of fruits and vegetables for kids and their families to learn about. This year, we had many varieties of sweet peppers and tomatoes! . . #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Jennifer Starcher of Aullwood Farms in Montgomery County. One of the new breeds we have here at Aullwood are the Scottish Highland Cattle. Here is one of our cows, April, and her bull calf. This is a unique breed that we are excited to have and show people some differences in cattle breeds. . . #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Jennifer Starcher of Aullwood Farms in Montgomery County. Some of our visitor favorites here at Aullwood are the Belgian draft horses, Mick and Red. Here are a volunteer and staff member hitching up the boys to our wagon for wagon rides. Mick and Red are both geldings and 18 years old. This year our event “GLOW: Nature at Night” we are going to have horse drawn wagon rides at dusk! GLOW takes place October 20th and 21st. Our draft horses work for us by pulling wagons, carts, manure spreaders, and pulling logs! Here are Mick and Red pulling logs out of the wood for us. . . #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Jennifer Starcher of Aullwood Farms in Montgomery County. We milled logs into boards using the logs that our draft horses pulled! Once the boards dry, we will use them around the farm for projects. . . #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Jennifer Starcher of Aullwood Farms in Montgomery County. Here’s an action shot of some of our goat kids playing on the logs. We have a wide variety of animals to teach visitors about, and we try to show people the unique abilities our farm animals have. . . #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Jennifer Starcher of Aullwood Farms in Montgomery County. Here at Aullwood, we have had very busy summer. One thing that always keeps us busy are our hay fields. We work hard in trying to get as much from our land as possible for our farm animals. . . #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Jennifer Starcher of Aullwood Farms in Montgomery County. We also grow spelt instead of oats or wheat. Spelt is an ancient wheat we feed to our draft horses and cattle. Since we grow it here, we harvest and store it here, instead of buying feed elsewhere. . . #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Jennifer Starcher of Aullwood Farms in Montgomery County. Right now, we have turkeys in some of our pens. Our turkeys are growing quickly! Thanksgiving will be here soon and the birds will be ready the Tuesday before Thanksgiving for pickup. Reserve your turkey by calling the farm at 937-890-2968 before they’re all spoken for! . . #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Jennifer Starcher of Aullwood Farms in Montgomery County. Working on the farm we see some of the most amazing views, but sunrises and sunsets are always stunning to see. This was a unique sunset that we captured right from our barn. It’s been a pleasure to show you some things we do and have here at Aullwood! Bring the family to visit and see the farm for yourself! Labor has always been an issue, mainly because we are a seasonal operation. So that's a challenge finding somebody who only wants to work three months out of a year, sometimes up to six months.

I appreciate the benefit of having a strong voice in my corner. The extras that are included in membership are wonderful, but I'm a member because of the positive impact to my local and state agricultural communities.

Leadership development
Farm Bureau involvement has taught me how to grow my professional and leadership experience outside of the workforce and how to do that in a community-centric way.

With not growing up on a farm, I’d say I was a late bloomer to agriculture. I feel so fortunate that I found the agriculture industry. There are so many opportunities for growth.

Growing our Generation
Knowing that horticulture is under the agriculture umbrella and having Farm Bureau supporting horticulture like it does the rest of ag is very important.

If it wasn't for Farm Bureau, I personally, along with many others, would not have had the opportunity to meet with our representatives face to face in Washington.

So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
