On March 24, the Hillsdale’s Equine team including Olivia Traylor, Taylor Rebman, Hattie Stamen, Maggie Vesper, Aubriana Gibson, Felicity Miller, Luke Ryan, Chandler Petush and Tazney Kahl competed in the State FFA Equine Management prelims at the Ohio Expo Center and placed sixth. The Equine Management Career Development Event (CDE) is an educational activity designed as a practical method of teaching students current horse evaluation and selection techniques in addition to developing management skills necessary for success in the equine industry. In this CDE, students evaluate classes of live horses, identify equipment and tools used in the equine industry as well as take a general knowledge test. On April 27 Hillsdale’s Equine team competed in the state finals at Ohio Expo Center and placed fourth. At the competition team members Taylor Rebman placed 19th, Olivia Traylor placed 21st, Aubriana Gibson placed 22nd and Maggie Vesper placed 27th. The team will now compete at the regional contest in September at the Big E in West Springfield, Mass. Congratulations to all the team members.
