FERC Seeks Comments on Pipeline Permitting Process

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has issued a Notice of Inquiry (NOI), to gather information, landowner concerns and community perspectives to explore whether, and if so how, it should revise its evaluation standards concerning natural gas pipeline permitting. Information submitted should focus on:

1.) How the need for a project is determined;

2.) Exercise of eminent domain and of landowner interests relating to a project, and

3.) Evaluation of the environmental impact of the proposed facility.

Additional information on the NOI may be found in the Federal Register.

The Wayne County Farm Bureau has formed a special committee to gather input and prepare formal comments in this FERC proceeding. Technical support on ensuring that Wayne County’s materials are submitted to FERC as required is being provided by Ohio Farm Bureau.

The county Farm Bureau is gathering member comments to be included in its submission. All interested members wanting to provide input are asked to email Lindsay Shoup at [email protected] on or before Friday, June 15.
