Allen County Scholarship Recipients

The Allen Farm Bureau awarded 10 scholarships to students in Allen County for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year.

Austin Lauf

Austin is a 2015 graduate of Bath High School. He is the son of Dan and Janet Lauf. He is currently attending The University of Findlay studying Animal Science – Pre Vet and is expected to graduate in May 2019. Austin is a member of the Pre-Vet Club and also participates in the college community events like Child Horseback Riding Day and Relay for Life. Congratulations on all of your success at The University of Findlay and good luck with your future in Pre-Vet, Austin!

Linnea Stephens

Linnea is a 2016 graduate of Columbus Grove High School. She is the daughter of Randy Stephens. She is currently attending The Ohio State University. Linnea is very involved in her community. She was a past Allen County 4-H member, Allen County Jr. Fair board president, Allen County Fair Princess and Allen County Beef Queen. She also competed at State Track for three years. Congratulations on all of your success and good luck with your studies at The Ohio State University this year, Linnea!

Terence Nielsen

Terence is a 2017 graduate of Spencerville High School. He is the son of Stephanie and Terry Nielsen. He is currently attending The Ohio State University studying architecture and is expected to graduate in Spring 2021. He was very involved in his high school band and received the John Philip Sousa Award, which is the highest honor for a high school band member to receive. Terence was also a past Allen County 4-H member and Allen County Jr. Fair board member. Madelyn Buettner

Madelyn is a 2016 graduate of Delphos St. John’s High School. She is the daughter of Kevin and Denise Buettner. She is currently attending Bowling Green State University studying Speech-Language Pathology and is expected to graduate in  Spring 2020. Madelyn is very involved in her college community and participates in BGSU Women’s Club Volleyball, BGSU Waterski Club Team, and the National Speech Language and Hearing Association (NSSLHA). She is also very involved in her community by being a tutor for Woodland Elementary School, as a Kid’s Camp Volleyball volunteer, a Special Olympic “Fans in the Stands” volunteer, and she is a volunteer for Sunshine Creating Community. Madelyn was also a past Allen County 4-H member. Also, Madelyn has been a Dean’s List recipient at The Bowling Green State University for three semesters. Congratulations on all of your success and good luck with your studies at The Bowling Green State University this year, Madelyn!

Jared Blymyer

Jared is a 2015 graduate of Elida High School. He is the son of Bret and Carla Blymyer. He is currently attending The Ohio State University studying business and is expected to graduate in Spring 2020. He was very involved in his high school FFA Chapter and received his State and American FFA Degrees. Jared was a past Allen County 4-H member and was an exhibitor at the Allen County Fair. Jared also participated in his high school’s student council and played on the high school football team. Congratulations on all of your success and good luck with your studies at The Ohio State University this year, Jared!

Caleb Austin

Caleb is a 2017 graduate of Allen East High School. He is the son of Jeffrey and Kristi Austin. He is currently attending Wittenberg University studying biology/education and is expected to graduate in Spring 2021. He was very involved in his high school sports teams including soccer, football, basketball, cross country and track. Caleb also participated on his high school student council and was a past senior class officer. He was a member of Allen County 4-H, Junior Fair board, Junior Leaders, and Caleb was a 4-H Camp counselor. Congratulations on all of your success and good luck with your studies at Wittenberg University this year, Caleb!

Griffen Croft

Griffen is a 2017 graduate of Spencerville High School. He is the son of Wes and Jodi Croft. He is currently attending The University of Pennsylvania studying science in economics and is expected to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in  Spring 2021. In high school, he was very involved in Allen County 4-H and his high school FFA chapter, plus he served as the president of his 4-H club. Griffen also was an Allen County Junior Fair board member and served as a 4-H camp counselor. He was also the Allen County Jr. Fair Prince in 2016. In college, Griffen works with the Passion Project to develop an agriculture education program for elementary students in Philadelphia. Congratulations on all of your success and good luck with your studies at The University of Pennsylvania this year, Griffen!

Hannah Hager

Hannah is a 2017 graduate of Allen East High School. She is the daughter of Matthew and Candy Hager. She is currently attending the Indiana University of Pennsylvania studying culinary arts/baking and pastry and is expected to graduate in Spring 2019. Hannah was a past Allen County 4-H member and served as the president of her 4-H club. She also was a member of the Allen County Junior Fair board and served as the treasurer. Madelyn has been a Dean’s List recipient at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and has has been awarded for Perfect Attendance. Congratulations on all of your success and good luck with your studies at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania this year, Hannah!

Forrest Hager

Forrest is a 2015 graduate of Allen East High School. He is the son of Matthew and Candy Hager. He is currently attending Ohio Northern University studying pharmacy with a minor in applied statistics and is expected to graduate in Spring 2021. In high school, Forrest was in National Honor Society and graduated with honors. He was very involved in Allen County 4-H and served as the president of his 4-H club. Forrest was an Allen County Junior Fair board member and served as a 4-H Camp counselor. In college, Forrest is involved in the Student Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists and has made the Dean’s List for four semesters. Congratulations on all of your success and good luck with your studies at Ohio Northern University this year, Forrest!

Joel Hutchinson

Joel is a 2018 graduate of Shawnee Senior High School. He is the son of Joyce Hutchinson. He plans to attend Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to study electrical engineering and is expected to graduate in Spring 2022. In high school, Joel was involved in many clubs like Science Olympiad, National Honor Society, FIRST Robotics League, and Drama Club. He was also very involved in Allen County 4-H and served as a 4-H Camp counselor. Joel has received awards for his outstanding academic career like the Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award and the Honda – Ohio State STEM Award. Congratulations on all of your success and good luck with your studies at MIT this year, Joel!

Bailey Croft

Bailey is a 2017 graduate of Spencerville High School. He is the son of Wes and Jodi Croft. He is currently attending Heidelberg University studying computer science with a minor in economics and is expected to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Spring 2021. In high school, he was very involved in Allen County 4-H and his high school FFA chapter. Bailey also served as the vice president of his 4-H club. He was an Allen County Junior Fair board member and served as a 4-H Camp counselor. Bailey also played for his high school soccer and basketball teams. In college, Bailey has been a Dean’s List recipient for the 2017 fall semester. Congratulations on all of your success and good luck with your studies at Heidelberg University, Bailey!
