Ohio State is a family tradition. I’m a 4th-generation #Buckeye: My great-grandpa Eddie Deam, grandfathers Dale Deam and Wayne Specht, parents Steve and Michele, sister Allison, and brother Adam all have degrees from OSU. We celebrated Mom and Dad’s 40th wedding anniversary this summer with family photos in Chadwick Arboretum. . . . #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Annie Specht from Tucarawas County. …and here we are more than 20 years later with Glenn and Garbo, two descendants of Gigi’s family. Though we sold our herd in 2012, we still enjoy breeding and showing our girls at local, state, and national shows. Choosing high-type sires for our small herd is one of my favorite pastimes! . . . #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Annie Specht from Tucarawas County. My department, @acelatosu, underwent renovations this year. We’re now teaching in brand-new spaces like our Mac Lab, pictured here. We teach print and Web design using Adobe Creative Cloud products like Photoshop and InDesign, and many of our alumni work in communications for commodity groups and orgs like Farm Bureau. . . . #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Annie Specht from Tucarawas County. I advise 50 undergraduate and graduate students in our AGRCOMM program. My favorite part of advising is seeing our students grow from their first days on campus to achieving their professional goals! My advisee @meg.winters created the @SelectSires breeding calendar as part of her summer internship. She also just accepted a full-time position with @OhioPork. . . . #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Annie Specht from Tucarawas County. Another part of my job is research. My research focuses on public perceptions of agriculture that are created or influenced by popular media like movies, TV and ads. I also study how people engage with #food and #ag issues on social media. I presented some of our research on commodity advertising in magazines at the American Association for Agricultural Education conference in Charleston in May. . . . #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Annie Specht from Tucarawas County. I’m lucky to work with 3 awesome student orgs in @osucfaes. @OSU_ACT puts on outreach events like #FarmersShare, which we hosted last year at Waterman Farm. Herd manager John Lemmerman gave tours of the dairy (while the #Jersey cows hammed it up!) and faculty from Horticulture & Crop Science hosted hay rides around the facility. Other #cfaes student orgs brought booths to teach visitors more about the #ag industry. . . . #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Annie Specht from Tucarawas County. Two weeks ago was Inspiration Week for @sigmaalpha_osu! These smiling young ladies are part of our newest membership candidate class and were out and about getting signatures for their paddles. Sigma Alpha is a professional agricultural sorority focused on personal and leadership growth in #ag careers. They’re an incredible group of young women! . . . #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Annie Specht from Tucarawas County. The third group I advise is @citationneededosu, a group of budding science communicators from majors across Ohio State’s campus. Citation Needed tackles tough issues in food science and agriculture through events like movie screenings, coffee hours with experts, high school visits and #scicomm workshops and webinars. We’ve got big plans for 2019! . . . #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Annie Specht from Tucarawas County.
