The Crawford County Farm Bureau display will be located in the Whetstone Building during the Crawford County Fair from July 14 to 20. Each day offers fair-goers the opportunity to learn more about agriculture, meet local farm families and find out more about Crawford County Farm Bureau’s dedication to the No. 1  industry in Ohio and the Crawford County community.

The Whetstone Building will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for agricultural education activities for all ages. Daily from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., visitors can play “Minute to Win It” and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., visitors can spin the trivia wheel. Children’s crafts will be led by Farm Bureau Ambassadors daily from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Many evenings will feature a speaker at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, there will be a scavenger hunt spanning the fairgrounds. New this year, the Farm Bureau will have a movie night on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. featuring the movie “Barnyard.”

While there are many activities planned, much of the building has interactive exhibits that can be enjoyed all day. My American Farm, a video game, can be played the entire time the building is open. “Buckeye Bessie” will be back again this year for guests to learn more about dairy farms.

The Whetstone Building is located just inside the entrance off Whetstone Drive.

2019 Whetstone Building Schedule

Labor has always been an issue, mainly because we are a seasonal operation. So that's a challenge finding somebody who only wants to work three months out of a year, sometimes up to six months.

Farm Labor Resources
I appreciate the benefit of having a strong voice in my corner. The extras that are included in membership are wonderful, but I'm a member because of the positive impact to my local and state agricultural communities.

Strong communities
I see the value and need to be engaged in the community I live in, to be a part of the decision-making process and to volunteer with organizations that help make our community better.

Leadership development
Farm Bureau involvement has taught me how to grow my professional and leadership experience outside of the workforce and how to do that in a community-centric way.

Young Ag Professionals program
With not growing up on a farm, I’d say I was a late bloomer to agriculture. I feel so fortunate that I found the agriculture industry. There are so many opportunities for growth.

Growing our Generation
Knowing that horticulture is under the agriculture umbrella and having Farm Bureau supporting horticulture like it does the rest of ag is very important.

If it wasn't for Farm Bureau, I personally, along with many others, would not have had the opportunity to meet with our representatives face to face in Washington.

Washington, D.C. Leadership Experience
So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
