Hi, we’re the Laubachers for your #TakeOverTuesday! We own and operate @jasonspumpkinpatch in Oak Harbor, OH. We grow our own pumpkins, gourds and squash, plus have a variety of fall activities. Jason’s Pumpkin Patch was started in 2001 by Jason (with the help of his mom) and has grown a little every year since. Today, Jason, his wife, Kayla, daughter, Hayden, and parents, Ron and Sandy, spend the fall season working at the pumpkin patch. In addition to the pumpkins, we grow about 1,100 acres of corn and soybeans as well as raise beef cattle and sheep on Laubacher Farms, a 6th generation family farm. . . #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Jason’s Pumpkin Patch in Ottawa County. People don’t realize that owning a pumpkin patch takes more than just the fall season. We start ordering seeds in February and plant in late May/early June. We plant using a single row pumpkin planter and flag each variety. We plant over 100 varieties of pumpkins, gourds and squash. While most farmers in Ottawa County got little to no crops planted this year, we were fortunate to get our pumpkins in and are having the best pumpkin crop we’ve had in the past 3 years. @jasonspumpkinpatch . . #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Jason’s Pumpkin Patch in Ottawa County. One thing that makes us unique is the wide variety of pumpkins we grow. You can’t go to many places and find pink, green, striped or warty pumpkins. People come from all over to get specialty pumpkins and check out our giants! We also grow edible squash and Indian corn. @jasonspumpkinpatch . . #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Jason’s Pumpkin Patch in Ottawa County. For some kids, a trip to the pumpkin patch might be the only trip to a farm they ever have so we try to incorporate as much of the farm life as we can. We have a Barnyard Zoo complete with goats, a donkey, a mule, ponies, pigs, cows, chickens, ducks, sheep and rabbits. Inside our Kidzone barn, kids can play in the corn box, race around the pedal tractor track, get lost in the straw maze and more. We have a corn maze and give hayrides that take a tour of our farm. We hope people leave knowing a little more about agriculture than they did before. @jasonspumpkinpatch . . #TakeOverTuesday this week is with Jason’s Pumpkin Patch in Ottawa County. Farm Bureau is an incredible organization that has given me countless professional development opportunities in addition to advocating for all sizes and types of farmers.

If it wasn't for Farm Bureau, I personally, along with many others, would not have had the opportunity to meet with our representatives face to face in Washington, D.C.
