2019 Logan County Agriculture Impact Fund Grants Awarded

Logan County Farm Bureau is excited to announce the awarding of two grants from the Logan County Reverse Raffle Agriculture Impact Fund. This competitive grant program was created by hosting last spring’s Reverse Raffle and in its two years has awarded over $30,000 in grants that support agriculture.

The reverse raffle was held last April, and the county is proud to be able to award over $13,000 in grants this year from dollars raised at the event. These grants are designed to support and improve the agricultural footprint for the youth in our county who are involved in agriculture as well as support agriculture organizations and schools to develop and improve programming about agriculture education as well as infrastructure.

2019 grant recipients are the Logan County Agricultural Society and Ohio Hi-Point Career Center, Animal Science FFA program. The Agricultural Society’s grant will help fund fans for the newly built show arena, and the Hi-Point grant will help establish beehives and an apiary learning environment for their program students.

We are so excited to award these projects and thank the community for supporting the Raffle which made it all possible!

The community is invited to support the second Logan County Agriculture Impact Fund Reverse Raffle coming up on March 28, 2020.

Labor has always been an issue, mainly because we are a seasonal operation. So that's a challenge finding somebody who only wants to work three months out of a year, sometimes up to six months.

I appreciate the benefit of having a strong voice in my corner. The extras that are included in membership are wonderful, but I'm a member because of the positive impact to my local and state agricultural communities.

Strong communities
I see the value and need to be engaged in the community I live in, to be a part of the decision-making process and to volunteer with organizations that help make our community better.

Leadership development
Farm Bureau involvement has taught me how to grow my professional and leadership experience outside of the workforce and how to do that in a community-centric way.

With not growing up on a farm, I’d say I was a late bloomer to agriculture. I feel so fortunate that I found the agriculture industry. There are so many opportunities for growth.

Growing our Generation
Knowing that horticulture is under the agriculture umbrella and having Farm Bureau supporting horticulture like it does the rest of ag is very important.

If it wasn't for Farm Bureau, I personally, along with many others, would not have had the opportunity to meet with our representatives face to face in Washington.

So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
