While 2020 has certainly been less than normal, Licking County Farm Bureau remained hard at work. Now that 2020 is coming to an end, we are looking forward to the excitement of 2021 and bringing back some of the programs we were forced to cancel in 2020.

Hartford Fair

We were honored to be a part of a 15,000 pound donation of ground pork in partnership with the Englefield Family, Heartland Bank and the Ohio Association of Foodbanks along with the Hartford Senior Fair Board. This ground pork was donated to Mid-Ohio Foodbank, The Food Pantry Network of Licking County, Ronald McDonald House and Recreation Unlimited. THANK YOU to our partners, and to the Hartford Fair exhibitors for completing their market hog projects in a difficult year which ultimately made this possible.

Wine Craze Corn Maze

Back by popular demand, this year’s event raised money for the Licking County Farm Bureau Scholarship Fund. With over 300 participants at this fully outdoor event, wine was offered from Buckeye Winery and a light dinner was served from Heritage Catering. Save the date; this event will be back Sept. 9, 2021 at Van Buren Acres!

Scholarship winners

Congratulations to our four scholarship winners: Cora Dorman, Keri Felumlee, Chelsea Graham and Shaeley Warner. Farm Bureau is honored to be a small part of their continued education.

Coming back in 2021

We are looking forward to bringing back the Farmer’s Share Breakfast and the Farm Tour. Check back for more information!

Labor has always been an issue, mainly because we are a seasonal operation. So that's a challenge finding somebody who only wants to work three months out of a year, sometimes up to six months.

Farm Labor Resources
I appreciate the benefit of having a strong voice in my corner. The extras that are included in membership are wonderful, but I'm a member because of the positive impact to my local and state agricultural communities.

Strong communities
I see the value and need to be engaged in the community I live in, to be a part of the decision-making process and to volunteer with organizations that help make our community better.

Leadership development
Farm Bureau involvement has taught me how to grow my professional and leadership experience outside of the workforce and how to do that in a community-centric way.

Young Ag Professionals program
With not growing up on a farm, I’d say I was a late bloomer to agriculture. I feel so fortunate that I found the agriculture industry. There are so many opportunities for growth.

Growing our Generation
Knowing that horticulture is under the agriculture umbrella and having Farm Bureau supporting horticulture like it does the rest of ag is very important.

If it wasn't for Farm Bureau, I personally, along with many others, would not have had the opportunity to meet with our representatives face to face in Washington.

Washington, D.C. Leadership Experience
So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
