The Richland County Farm Bureau is excited to see you at the 2021 Richland County Fair Aug. 8-14! Farm Bureau is a proud supporter of the Richland County youth and fair.

This year, Richland County Farm Bureau is again the exclusive sponsor for the livestream service for the 2021 Richland County Fair junior livestock shows and sales.

To further welcome back having a full fair, Richland County Farm Bureau is sponsoring T-shirts for every 4-H and FFA exhibitor at the fair. If you or your business would like to be featured on these shirts, please contact the Farm Bureau office. The first 12 people with payment of $300 will be featured.

Additionally to support the youth, Richland County Farm Bureau provides awards for the Outstanding Market Livestock Exhibitors in each specie and sponsors the Showman of Showmen trophy.

Richland County Farm Bureau will host the annual Barnyard Olympics Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the show arena. Join us for a fun obstacle course and egg toss; participants will receive a $3 voucher to use at the 4-H Dairy Bar, Plymouth FFA pop tent or Crestview FFA food trailer.

Is serving up a big breakfast your cup of tea? Farm Bureau members will volunteer in the Fairhaven Cafeteria at the fair on Tuesday from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and invite you to join us for a fun morning.

If you would like to sponsor a T-shirt or help serve breakfast, please contact the Richland County Farm Bureau at [email protected] or call 419-747-7488.

Labor has always been an issue, mainly because we are a seasonal operation. So that's a challenge finding somebody who only wants to work three months out of a year, sometimes up to six months.

I appreciate the benefit of having a strong voice in my corner. The extras that are included in membership are wonderful, but I'm a member because of the positive impact to my local and state agricultural communities.

Strong communities
I see the value and need to be engaged in the community I live in, to be a part of the decision-making process and to volunteer with organizations that help make our community better.

Leadership development
Farm Bureau involvement has taught me how to grow my professional and leadership experience outside of the workforce and how to do that in a community-centric way.

With not growing up on a farm, I’d say I was a late bloomer to agriculture. I feel so fortunate that I found the agriculture industry. There are so many opportunities for growth.

Growing our Generation
Knowing that horticulture is under the agriculture umbrella and having Farm Bureau supporting horticulture like it does the rest of ag is very important.

If it wasn't for Farm Bureau, I personally, along with many others, would not have had the opportunity to meet with our representatives face to face in Washington.

So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
