Paulding County Farm Bureau is excited to offer a media and communications internship for June 2022. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Paulding County Fair Livestream Coordinators
– Coordinate who will cover Junior Fair Livestock, Dog and Horse Shows.
– Manage necessary equipment.
– Develop graphic templates for use during specific species live streams.
– Execute social media coverage leading up to the fair, at the fair, and as follow-up to bring awareness to the success of Farm Bureau, Farm Bureau members and increase the opportunity to grow Farm Bureau membership in the county.
– Troubleshoot day of issues and timelines of livestream coverage.
– Plan and present additional marketing ideas to Paulding County organization director and board president for approval.
– Assist as needed in sponsor communications and recognition.
– Other items could include: helping with milkshakes and cleaning up the Farm Bureau Building.

Requirements: Applicants must be experienced in Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other social media platforms. Must be able to demonstrate understanding of execution of live video development using outside applications for graphics. Experience with livestock shows, multiple species, and overall Junior Fair atmosphere preferred.

Hours: The Media and Communications intern will not report regularly to an office but will check in weekly with Organization Director Jessica Vandenbroek as to progress on deliverables, next steps, and as needed for any approvals. The role will likely be 3-4 hours the week before the fair and 6-10 hours a day during the Paulding Fair June 12-18, with the bulk of commitment being in person at the Paulding County Fair daily (60+ hours). Total hours should be close to 100 with post-fair follow-ups.

Scholarship: The Media and Communications intern(s) will receive a divided $1500 scholarship for their work at the conclusion of their internship.

Interested parties should forward a message of intent along with a current resume and three references to Jessica Vandenbroek ([email protected]) and Abram Klopfenstein ([email protected]) by May 23. A follow-up virtual interview will be scheduled for candidates moving forward in late May.

Labor has always been an issue, mainly because we are a seasonal operation. So that's a challenge finding somebody who only wants to work three months out of a year, sometimes up to six months.

I appreciate the benefit of having a strong voice in my corner. The extras that are included in membership are wonderful, but I'm a member because of the positive impact to my local and state agricultural communities.

Leadership development
Farm Bureau involvement has taught me how to grow my professional and leadership experience outside of the workforce and how to do that in a community-centric way.

With not growing up on a farm, I’d say I was a late bloomer to agriculture. I feel so fortunate that I found the agriculture industry. There are so many opportunities for growth.

Growing our Generation
Knowing that horticulture is under the agriculture umbrella and having Farm Bureau supporting horticulture like it does the rest of ag is very important.

If it wasn't for Farm Bureau, I personally, along with many others, would not have had the opportunity to meet with our representatives face to face in Washington.

So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
