Caraway wins 2016 Ohio Farm Bureau Discussion Meet

Stephen Caraway of West Union is the winner of the 2016 Ohio Farm Bureau Discussion Meet. The final round of the competition was held during Ohio Farm Bureau’s Young Agricultural Professionals Leadership Conference Jan. 29 in Columbus.

Ohio Farm Bureau sets state priority issues for 2016

Ohio Farm Bureau has set six state priority issues for 2016: water quality; taxation and business climate; building community through economic development; energy; quality of life issues, and increasing grassroots awareness and involvement.


Apply by April 15 for AgrPOWER Class VIII

Applications for Class VIII of AgriPOWER, a leadership and advocacy development program, which will consist of seven multi-day institutes (17 total days), are now available and due April 15. Twenty individuals will be selected to participate in AgriPOWER.


Agriculture fertilizer certification training scheduled throughout Ohio

Farmers who apply fertilizer on more than 50 acres are being encouraged to obtain their fertilizer applicator certification before this year’s planting season. Ohio Farm Bureau is asking farmers to attend a training session being conducted by the Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences.


Support growing for additional CAUV changes

Ohio’s agricultural community is supporting Ohio Farm Bureau’s second round of suggested changes to the Current Agricultural Use Value (CAUV) formula.
