Ohio Farm Bureau is proudly supporting the inaugural Dean’s Charity Steer Show at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 30, in the Voinovich Livestock and Trade Center at the Ohio State Fair. The competition will be hosted by Cathann Kress, vice president for agricultural administration and dean of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University along with Ohio Cattlemen’s Association and Telhio Credit Union.

Ohio Farm Bureau Executive Vice President Adam Sharp will be partnering with a 4-Her to show a steer during the show. Awards include best steer, showmanship and people’s choice. Sharp joins other local celebrities in the competition with one common goal of supporting the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio.

Farm Bureau members are being asked to show their support (and help Sharp reach his fundraising goal) by contributing to the cause. And here is the big news: for every donation a member makes, the Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation will match the contribution.

This first-time event supports Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio. The mission of RMHC is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families.

American Farm Bureau Federation recently set a goal to raise $100,000 in honor of AFBF’s Centennial. AFBF has been supporting RMHC since 1997. Funds raised from Ohio’s efforts with the Dean’s Charity Steer Show also will be credited toward AFBF’s goal.
