Please join Marion County Farm Bureau and Marion Soil and Water Conservation District as we celebrate Farm Bureau’s Centennial at the Annual Meeting on Thursday, Aug. 22. If you have never been to the annual meeting, we encourage you to join us this year and learn more about what our organizations are doing in the county and your community.

This year’s annual meeting will be held at All Occasions Catering, 6989 Waldo Delaware Rd., Waldo. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. SWCD ballot booths will open from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. All Marion County residents can vote in the SWCD Supervisor Election. Our guest speaker for the evening will be Matt Reese, agricultural journalist with Ohio Ag Net and Ohio’s Country Journal.

Tickets are $15 and available at the Marion County SWCD office, or call 800.327.6055 by noon Aug. 15, or click here to make reservations and pay at the door.

Be prepared to vote on our policy positions, elect trustees and elect delegates to the Ohio Farm Bureau 2020 Annual Meeting. Impact your community by guiding local activities and state events!

The policies of Farm Bureau are the backbone of the organization. They provide the framework through which we advocate for family, community and food security. They help guide efforts to address real community issues—issues such as regulations, funding public education and services, environmental protection, animal care, health care, landowner’s rights and community planning. These policies and trustees help guide the yearly plan of work for Marion County Farm Bureau volunteers.

Are you ready to be more involved? Farm Bureau is a grassroots membership organization that works to support our state’s food and farm community. The county (local) Farm Bureau is the very heart and strength of the organization.
Marion County Farm Bureau is seeking candidates for trustees to be elected at the annual meeting. Trustees are asked to attend board meetings, serve on committees with other volunteers and help direct the work of the county Farm Bureau.

Locally there are 24 trustees on the board – 12 elected by district and 12 at-large. Active Members or Young Active Members, or their spouses, whose dues are paid, are eligible for the office of trustee. All trustees must live, work or have an active agricultural interest in the county. All trustees elected by district must live, work or have an active agricultural interest in said district. There are eight seats up for election this year:

  • North District – Salt Rock, Big Island, Marion
  • South District – Pleasant, Prospect, Richland, Waldo
  • East District – Clairdon, Grand Prairie, Scott, Tully
  • West District – Grand, Montgomery, Bowling Green, Green Camp
  • Four At Large

If you are interested in making a difference in your community, planning activities and organizing sessions to help local farmers, please let us know. Nominations can be made from the floor at the meeting.

If you can’t commit the time to be a trustee, we still have a spot for those willing to help! Volunteers are needed at different times throughout the year. You can volunteer for one particular event, participate in many areas or serve on committees. Contact the office at 800.327.6055 or [email protected] for more information on opportunities to volunteer. If you are interested in making a difference in your community, please let us know.

Remember, all Farm Bureau members and their families are invited to join us for this special event. Join your friends and neighbors for an evening of food, fun and entertainment as we celebrate our organizations’ successes.

Tickets are $15 and available the Marion County SWCD office, or call 800.327.6055 by noon on Aug. 15, or click here to make reservations and pay at the door.

We hope to see you there!
