Ross County farmers Paul and Heather Dorrance are hosting their first ever farm school at their farm April 29-30 near Chillicothe.

The Dorrance’s pasture-based farm is fulfilling the couple’s vision of an “eco-friendly, humane, health conscious, local livestock farm.” Paul left his active duty Air Force career in 2013 to work full time at starting their farm in southern Ohio.

Topics covered at the school will include rotational and management-intensive grazing, holistic animal healthcare, business planning, farm finances and marketing/branding.

“We want this to be an inspiring educational opportunity,” said Paul.  “We are seeking to equip both new and seasoned farmers for success in pasture-based animal agriculture.”

Farm Bureau members are being offered a 10% discount off registration costs.  In addition, registration and lodging scholarships are available for active military and veterans.
