You are invited to the Marion County Farm Bureau and Soil and Water Conservation District’s Annual Meeting, Thurs., Aug. 23. If you have never been to the annual meeting, we encourage you to join us this year and learn more about what our organizations are doing in the county and your community.

This year’s annual meeting will be held at All Occasions Catering, 6989 Waldo Delaware Rd., Waldo. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for a Meet the Candidates reception. SWCD ballot booths will open from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $15 and available at the Marion County SWCD office, or call 800.327.6055 by noon on Aug. 15, or click here, to make reservations and pay at the door.

Entertainment will be provided by Adam Garman, a comedian and third generation farmer from Ross County. Garman and his wife, Amy, have a two children. Through Garman’s unusual speech, he brings a different type of comedy to life’s experiences.

Be prepared to VOTE on our policies and elect trustees and 2019 delegates to Ohio Farm Bureau Annual Meeting. IMPACT your community by guiding local activities and state events! Proposed Farm Bureau Policies available here.

The policies of Farm Bureau are the backbone of the organization. They provide the framework through which we advocate for family, community and food security. They help guide efforts to address real community issues—issues such as regulations, funding public education and services, environmental protection, animal care, health care, landowner’s rights and community planning. These policies and trustees help guide the yearly plan of work for Marion County Farm Bureau volunteers.

Are you ready to be more involved? Farm Bureau is a grassroots membership organization that works to support our state’s food and farm community. The county (local) Farm Bureau is the very heart and strength of the organization. Marion County Farm Bureau is seeking candidates for trustees to be elected at the Annual Meeting. We have four open positions on the board.

Trustees are asked to attend board meetings (~10 per year), serve on committees with other volunteers and help direct the work of the county Farm Bureau.

Locally there are 24 trustees on the board – 12 elected by district and 12 at-large. Active Members or Young Active Members, or their spouses, whose dues are paid, are eligible for the office of trustee. All trustees must live, work, or have an active agricultural interest in the county. All trustees elected by district must live, work, or have an active agricultural interest in said district.

North District – Salt Rock, Big Island, Marion
South District – Pleasant, Prospect, Richland, Waldo
East District – Clairdon, Grand Prairie, Scott, Tully
West District – Grand, Montgomery, Bowling Green, Green Camp

If you are interested in making a difference in your community, planning activities, and organizing sessions to help local farmers, please let us know. Nominations will be accepted until Aug. 17, or can be made from the floor at the meeting.

If you can’t commit the time to be a trustee, we still have a spot for those willing to help! Volunteers are needed at different times throughout the year. You can volunteer for one particular event, participate in many areas or serve on committees. Contact the office at 800.327.6055 or [email protected] for more information on opportunities to volunteer. If you are interested in making a difference in your community, please let us know.

Remember, all Farm Bureau members and their families are invited to join us for this special event. Join your friends and neighbors for an evening of food, fun, and entertainment as we celebrate our organizations’ successes.

Tickets are $15 and available the Marion County SWCD office, or call 800.327.6055 by noon on Aug. 15, or click here, to make reservations and pay at the door.

We hope to see you there!
