OSU Extension will host the Inversion and Drift Mitigation Workshop, which will address ways farmers can best deal with temperature inversions that can cause weed killers to drift well beyond where they were applied.

An inversion occurs when the temperature of the air at ground level, which is normally warmer than the air above it, becomes cooler than the air above it. Inversions normally occur in the late evening to early morning. Recognizing weather conditions that could cause inversions is important when using certain weed killers on a crop of corn or soybeans.

Presentations at the workshop will be provided by Aaron Wilson, weather specialist and atmospheric scientist with OSU Extension and the Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center, and Jared Shaffer, plant health inspector with the Ohio Department of Agriculture.

The event is free. To register, visit: go.osu.edu/driftworkshop.
