Let’s cut to the chase. It is expensive to get into farming. Land prices, equipment, livestock purchases, input costs, etc. present a pretty daunting hurdle for anyone to start from scratch and begin farming. So, do you throw up your hands and decide, “This isn’t for me?”
Well it’s evident, fall is upon us. That also means the end of county fair season. This brings us back to what drew me into agriculture. I think initially it was the competition aspect of showing livestock.
Part-time farmer. That seems like an oxymoron. There really doesn’t seem like there is anything “part-time” about farming? What would possess someone to spend their “free” time trying to take on farm work?
