Dengler Family- Walnut Creek Farms

Hello! I am Mary Dengler. Nick and I have been married for 34 years and live in Wayne Township near Jacksonburg. Our three children are: Laura Sorg, a doctor in West Liberty, married to Jon Sorg, They have a 2 1/2 yr old named Drew and are expecting another one in June.  Nicholas is our right-hand man. We wouldn't be able to do our day-to-day operations without him. He lives here on the home farm and is to be married this summer to Andrea Welsh of Ross. Jake lives around the corner on another farm and works at Wallmaster Concrete Walls. He helps us in between times.

Our farming operation consists of row crops, cattle and baling hay. We bale over 500 acres from late spring to early fall-- round bales for feeding our cattle and square bales for resale. We have 150 plus cow/calves. We raise the calves to 300-400 pounds then sell at a sale barn. We keep the replacement heifers. We chop silage in early fall and store in a trench silo for winter feeding. I call it the girls' warm oatmeal. They love it!

Our business, Dengler Tractor Inc., sells used farm and industrial equipment and parts. We advertise in different trade publications. Parts are sent to customers hundreds of miles away, the furthest to Australia. The main line is antique John Deere parts.

As you can see, we do not lack for anything to do. I have served on the Butler County Farm Bureau board for the past seven years. I represent District #1, which includes Wayne, Fairfield and St. Clair Townships. I am on different committees and enjoy the meetings with fellow Farm Bureau members.
