Due to the Coronavirus/COVID-19, the Northeast Counties Farm Bureau has POSTPONED Ag Safety Day until further notice.
————————————————————————————————————-
Contrary to the popular image of fresh air and peaceful surroundings, a farm is not a hazard-free work setting. Every year, thousands of farm workers are injured and hundreds more die in farming accidents. According to the National Safety Council, agriculture is the most hazardous industry in the nation.
Ag Safety Day is designed to educate youth, families, and professionals about safety risks and prevention within the agriculture industry. Agriculture ranks among the most hazardous industries. Farmers are at very high risk for fatal and nonfatal injuries. Those who either live on or work around farms and are not as experienced or aware of the hazards around them are at an even greater risk. Many of today’s youth will fall directly into the latter category. It is necessary that we educate our youth and others about the potential hazards so that they are better prepared for when they do happen.

Each year the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation sponsors educational programs dealing with safety in the agriculture workplace. These programs are important for all Farm Bureau members and workers’ compensation employers in the program – large and small.
One very important aspect of reducing Workers’ Compensation premiums, and to protect our Farm Bureau members, is to reduce the number of claims/accidents we have each year. This can be accomplished by every member doing his/her part to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. To help make these safety seminars more accessible to you, many county Farm Bureaus are sponsoring local meetings. This event will also meet the requirements of your OFBF Group Rating Program.
