Farmers and landowners have lots of questions over four letters: SPCC — also known as Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure. These regulations require spill prevention plans for farms that have more than 1,320 gallons of aboveground or 42,000 gallons of underground, oil storage, including storage of gasoline or diesel.
Even though proposals have been made to change the law or its thresholds, having a plan in place will ensure compliance and help prepare you if a spill occurs on your property.
Join Ohio Farm Bureau July 11 at 7 p.m. for a free, members-only Web meeting to discuss the ins and outs of SPCC, and its sometimes confusing regulations. Ohio Farm Bureau staff will be joined by representatives from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to help explain exactly who needs a plan and what should be included in it. Members may also submit questions both before and during the event to help tailor information to your needs.
