The Ohio Wine Producers Association will host a Fire & Ice Dinner in the Plant Science Center at Lake Metroparks Farmpark as a preview to the Farmpark’s Ice Festival scheduled for Jan. 25 and 26.
The dinner will begin with flight of Ohio Ice Wine perfectly paired with blue cheese, brie, and dried fruits. A multicourse dinner will follow with each course expertly paired with Ohio-grown vinifera wines. The dinner will conclude with a decadent dessert.
Guests will have the opportunity to sample Ice Wine and vinifera wine from the following winemakers:
- Debonne’ Vineyards – Vidal Blanc Ice Wine & Cabernet Franc
- Ferrante Winery & Ristorante – Vidal Blanc Ice Wine & Gruner Veltliner
- Kosicek Vineyards – Vidal Blanc Ice Wine & Cabernet Sauvignon
- Laurello Vineyards – Cabernet Franc Ice Wine & Pinot Grigio
- Vermilion Valley Vineyards – Chardonnay Ice Wine & Cabernet Franc
Lauren Fiala, DipWSET Level 4 and wine education specialist from The Lodge at Geneva on the Lake, will guide guests through the handpicked wines and briefly discuss the process of how Ice Wine is made and what makes this such a special wine for Ohio.
J&J Catering, exclusive caterer for Lake Metroparks Farmpark, will prepare a delicious menu.
The evening will also include live music and an ice carving demonstration by Elegant Ice Creations. All this will create a formal presentation in a comfortable environment that will entice wine enthusiasts and the wine newcomers alike.
Guests will be able to purchase take-home bottles of both the Ice Wine and vinifera varieties served at the dinner. Seating is limited. Tickets for the event are $150/couple, $80/single and are available at Eventbrite or by visiting OhioWines.org or calling the office at 440-466-4417.
