Come experience the nightlife most never see at Secrest Arboretum’s annual Insect Night, a free event with family activities and a graduate student-led night walk. Among the stars: ghostly moths, burying beetles and (thanks to bioluminescence) coldly glittering fireflies. Plus hopefully only a few blood-sucking mosquitoes.
The event includes edible insects, a coloring table, a firefly collecting contest, temporary insect tattoos, face painting, expert-led walks to insect-attracting traps and black lights, and a bug zoo housing live scorpions, walking sticks, giant millipedes and others.
Bring a flashlight, good walking shoes, and a clear jar to collect insects. If the weather looks threatening, call 330-263-3723.
