Join Crawford County Farm Bureau and Crawford County Cattlemen’s Association for a carcass show and meat processing workshop on July 26, at 6 p.m. at Link’s Country Meats located at 7252 Leesville Rd, Crestline.
This educational event will feature different species of champion animals from the 2017 Crawford County Fair. Ohio State’s Meat Judging Team as well as U.S. Department of Agriculture meat inspection services will evaluate hog, sheep, goat, and steer carcasses from the county fair. They will also explain how the animals are processed from start to finish. Guests can learn about and view different meat types and cuts. Equipment used during the harvesting process will be explained as well as how meat is handled. Participants will also learn about what happens to meat as it leaves the processor. In addition, they will hear about how meat is inspected, graded and what makes quality meat.
Participants will get the opportunity to tour the processing facilities of Link’s Country Meats. Link’s Country Meats, a fifth generation meat market, is a state inspected, custom and retail meat market. All of their meat products are made fresh on site.
