Bringing the national food truck craze to the local area, 35 participating vendors will be
traveling to Springfield from a tristate area, such as Big Ron’s Bistro of Speedway,
Ind.; Jam Pan Mobile Jamaican Jerk Centre of Louisville, Ky.; and numerous food trucks from Ohio, including Springfield’s own Ramen Rickshaw. The competing food trucks will be paid a $500 stipend to cover travel expenses and showcase their signature dishes in hopes of winning the $10,000 grand prize.
Admission to the event is free, and attendees are encouraged to partake in the food and
festivities throughout the day, which will include live entertainment and a beer garden for
those 21 and over with a valid ID. Veteran’s Park is a family friendly venue that provides
plenty of green space and a playground for families with young children.
The money raised from the competition’s numerous sponsors, including event sponsor
Speedway, will go toward the Rotary Club’s charities – Services to People with
Disabilities, Polio Plus (the worldwide eradication of Polio) and the International Project in
