Is a hardwood really “harder” than a softwood? What does it mean for a hardwood to be diffuse porous, ring porous, or semi-ring porous? Think-ing about remodeling and deciding between sev-eral woods? This class will help you answer those questions and learn the basics of wood identifi-cation.
We will explore the skills you need to identify various wood structural characteristics, includ-ing rays, tyloses, resin canals, and more. The his-torical benefits of these woods as well as their current uses will be discussed.
Class Fee: $35, which covers educational materials and lunch. A kit of 24 wood species, 1 kit per person, is also included for an additional $25 (samples are 0.75”x0.75”x3.0” ). Class size is limited to the first 30 registrants.
