Apple Batter Pudding

Top this warm apple pudding with milk or ice cream.


  • 6 cups apples, pared and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup sifted flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk


Heat oven to 350 degrees. Combine apples, 1/2 cup sugar and all spice; arrange in buttered 10x6x2 inch baking dish. Work butter with back of spoon until creamy. Gradually add 1/2 cup sugar, continuing to work until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, beat well.

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add alternately with milk to butter mixture.

Pour over apples; bake for 1 hour. Top with milk or ice cream.
